Retaining Wall and Brick Ash Garden Completed at New Hope Presbyterian Church

Fowler Outdoor Co. recently completed a hardscaping project for New Hope Presbyterian Church in Hillsborough. The scope included constructing a low retaining wall to correct the grade and a custom brick ash garden designed to match the existing columbarium.

The church was experiencing sediment runoff from the upper parking lot washing onto the brick walkway and patio area below. To solve this, our team built a low retaining wall that effectively adjusts the grade, prevents erosion, and protects the lower-level hardscape from future sediment and water damage.

In addition to the retaining wall, we constructed a small ash garden using brick that seamlessly matches the church’s existing columbarium. The new garden provides a respectful, cohesive space for memorialization while maintaining architectural harmony with the rest of the grounds.
